What is CADR?

CADR stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate — the international benchmark used to measure how quickly an air purifier can clean the air in a given space. It’s calculated in cubic metres per hour (m³/h) and shows how effectively a purifier removes pollutants like dust, pollen, and smoke.

The higher the CADR, the faster the purifier cleans your air — and the more real-world coverage it can provide.

Step 1 — Contaminants Are Added

To test CADR, a sealed chamber is filled with pollutants — typically fine tobacco smoke, one of the hardest airborne particles to remove. Sensors record the concentration levels before testing begins.

Step 2 — Purifier Is Turned On

The AirRepair purifier runs at its maximum fan speed while precision instruments continuously track the particle reduction rate. This shows how effectively the unit removes real airborne contaminants.

Step 3 — Decay Rate Is Calculated

Once enough data is collected, scientists calculate the decay rate — how quickly pollutant concentrations drop compared to their natural rate of settling. The difference gives the official CADR value (m³/h).
